Until I read pmmpete's thread regarding this topic I did not know I had a problem.    I store my salmon in a kill bag in the front hatch of my Revo and every once in a while it would flip open to far and be out of reach. Previously, I had just used my paddle to reach up and flip it back, but it usually took a few tries wasting valuable humble bragging time. After seeing pmmpete's hatch cord, I thought I would make something similar. I recently acquired a 2018 Revo and I am trying to avoid drilling as many holes as possible, so I needed a way to fasten a hook.  Originally I thought of just mounting one of the many GoPro mounts inside - they have 3m tape that sticks extremely well. Then I was going to custom design a mount that would be compatible with the GoPro mount.  I realized why not just cut out the middle man and take some 3M VHB double sided tape I had lying around and stick on a simple 3D printed mount I could design in about 5 minutes in Fusion 360. 

I use the metric system because it is easier.  For those that now think I am an un-American communist, 25 mm equals roughly 1 inch.  The VHB tape I have is 1 inch wide.



After the part was done being printed, I attached the tape to it, trimmed it, and then set it back on the build plate of the printer while it was cooling down from 95 degrees C.  This makes the tape really adhere well.   I printed it in purple (because it is pimp) ABS.  I did not print in a very high resolution because it will not be seen.

Then, before attaching it to the inside of the hatch, I heated up the hatch lid with a heat gun and stuck the part on.  I choose mounting it slightly off to the side so it would be less in the way and also the lid is flatter there.



I tied on some 3/16 inch bungie cord and then tied the other end around the mast mount for the optional sail  on the inside of the hatch.


Sea trials commence on Saturday. Hopefully...

Is that Revo orange or yellow? 

Papaya Orange.  And due to weather, sea trials have been postponed.
