Waiting with bated breath...  How many more days?

I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...

So here is the rest of the story. With the weather around here doing all 5 seasons in one day and wanting to fish for some LMB. Decided to see about going south, talk to a few people and the weather down south of me(North Bend) was holding and has been for several days. Garrison Lake here I come! Got down there and it was awesome weather(my version right now is seeing blue sky longer than 15 min. and don't get blown away by the wind) Met up with Tinker and we launch amongst trout jumping all over the place. While Tinker was busy harassing the trout, I went after LMB. After 3hrs of nothing and watching trout jump by me and afar I had to switch flies and try for some trout and right of the bat 3 fish(12"-13"ish)caught a few more when I came to this really bassy looking area. Switch back to a bass fly and 1st cast landed right next to a log and started stripping back with a shadow following and soon the shadow became a fish. Right there at my rod tip is a fish weighing 5lbs.(she was so pretty) with my fly still hanging in the water. What happen next was so cool! Wiggle fly, fish eats fly and at the same time set the hook and she spits it out. We did this dance for 8-9 times, then she got bored and swam casually away. So a couple more casts and she returns this time watching my fly line being stripped back in. You could see her nose right up to it and slightly turn at each strip, then all hell broke lose and no there was no hook set and a epic battle between man and beast erupts. A simple 4" baitfish pattern ran right over the top of her and she was off to never be seen again. Fished awhile longer but nothing. Mean while Tinker was having fun with the trout so I joined him we caught several fish the rest of the afternoon. I lost a couple really really nice ones and caught lots in the 15"-16" range.  The day was out standing to say the least. Saw otters playing and ospreys dive bomb for a fish and the highlight of the day was a couple of eagles who got a little to close to the osprey eating his lunch. Mister osprey took to the air and was dive bombing the one eagle and mister eagle rolls on to his back in mid air and defends himself(that was so way cool) I could have showed up and not fished  at all and it would have still would have been a great day with the weather and all the sites to see around the lake. Me and Tinker left, tired and a little sun burned and I'm already looking and planning my next trip down there.

You forgot the part about me targeting cutthroat for AOTY points, and when I went ashore to "stretch my legs", the instant my feet touched dry land, you caught the one and only cutthroat of the day.

I don't know how you landed that fat rainbow while you were still laughing about catching a stupid cutthroat.

Friends can be a mixed blessing.

How did you make that one on the bottom?  Is that a trailer on the head?  Those flies are so cool.  Thanks for  sharing and giving inspiration.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Thank you so much. The fly your talking about is called Burk's Bass Flash. It's a fly fishers pattern take off of bass spinnerbaits.
