Last week on the way home from fishing Antilon Lake for Brown Trout I stopped off at Wapato Lake to fish for bass. I was surprised to see how clear the water was. I didn't find much in the way of bass but I did see huge schools of Yellow Perch and sighted several large perch in the 12-13" cruising the flats. I decided to head back and put some delicious white meat in the freezer and maybe score a few big fish for my AOTY points.

The wind made fishing a little challenging but I still found numerous Yellow Perch on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon fishing with Sidra. The perch are still shallow (10-20') but should start moving deep soon. Dense schools of 6-10" fish were easily targeted using electronics and could even be visually spotted when they were suspended. I scored several fish bigger than 12" with the biggest measuring out at 12.75".

Deeper in the 30' range I encountered a mixture of very fat hand sized Bluegill with the odd Rainbow Trout leftover from the spring plants.

In the end I scored 4 quart bags stuffed with delicious white fillets. It should hold me over until ice fishing season gets here.

You're killing me, but really nice video's and I hope to try Wapato this fall/winter as a friend with no yak has a place in Chelan.
If you're looking for a little different recipe, we lay the fillets one or two layers deep in a buttered cake pan, cover them with a mixture of cheese and cream of mushroom soup.  Cover that with some french fried onions and bake for about 30 minutes.  A few minutes before removing broil the top to crisp things up and serve over rice.  Fresh green beans for color and it can't be beat for a quick meal.

I did check with Region 2 and was told the lake closes on 10-31-17.
