Me and some buddies are in the early stages of planning our alaskan yak adventure. Were looking at aug 2013 at this point. However, we have several questions.  1.  Are pinks only around during the even number years or are they always around?  2.  Is aug the best month to catch both pinks and slivers?  (and of course buts, rockfish, lings, etc.)  3.  Is the helms bay area a good one for yak fishing?  ie  is the water protected enough or rough?  Can we expect to find fish close to the cabins from here? 3.  Would we be better off going to a different cabin in the area?  or go to a whole different area?   4. Its hard to determine how much the water taxis really are.  I understand there could be a big price difference between now and 2013, but it looks like its about a 100 bucks each way to the helms bay area from ketchikan.  There will be 4 of us with our yaks, so is that per person or for the whole taxi?
Any experience or advice or anything anyone out there could offer would be MUCH appreciated!  Thanx

1) Pinks are around every year up there.
2) Earlier in Aug for more quality to the pinks.  Later in Aug for silvers.
3) Not sure where Helms Bay is.  Talk to Howard.
4) Water taxis will be a big ticket item, at least $100 per person each way.
