I like this float idea. I'm up for it.

While we are on the subjects of floats, I was looking at locations of accessible boat ramps on the Columbia, thinking maybe a float from Ridgefield wildlife sanctuary, (lake river Wa.), to Ranier, Or.  That looks like a nice stretch of trolling water, any thoughts from those of you with more fishing experience on the C.

Thanks
John

Kyle, there's a few of us planning on floating/fishing the Columbia soon. For now we're thinking to leave from the Next Adventure dock in Scappoose and camp a couple nights while we float/fish the Columbia to Astoria. Someone's wife/kid will be picking us up in Astoria a couple days later. I know I'm going to do it with my kids this summer.

mcdc1369,  There is a designated kayak launch in Rainier to the right of the public dock.  The current can be strong in this section so I do recommend checking your tides and having appropriate gear if anything goes wonky.  That being said its very paddle-able if you have some kayak experience.  You could certainly paddle up and around the kayak launch to get a feel for it but right now there is something like 100 sealions on those docks.

Jammer, I'd really like to float (sail) Scappoose to Astoria. Let me know if there's a planning meeting in the works.

I just got back.  Put in at Austin Point adn stayed on the WA side.  Too many PBs on the Oregon side.  Lost one right after hook up...did not see any caught. Still early.
