Anyone launched from the Waikiki Beach at Cape Disappointment State Park at Ilwaco WA?  After crossing the bridge from Astoria and seeing hundreds of Buoy-10 boats I stopped to cast from the jetty. Picked up a nice silver after nearly loosing it to a fur burger. Weather was very calm on the inside river side. With the understanding that can change very quickly, you don't have to be out very far to be in the fish/crab.

Just wondering if anyone has given it a shot.

I launched there probably half a dozen times.  We once had a crabbing "tournament" there as well.  I've also seen a kayak go completely vertical there, creating quite the yard sale.

I would expect that could be an optional ride due to the current, Columbia bar, boats, et al.  Definitely a minimalist partner venture with gear tied down.  Thanks.  I would also think this would be a good example of where a throw rope might come in handy after a spin.  All of that said, has  some real interesting appeal.

I've launched there once. I didn't like all the driftwood. If the swell or wind shifts and carries waves into there its time to GTFO. It really gets cranking in there at times.
