Greetings all.
My secret identity is Jim Bell and I live in the Santa Clara area of Eugene OR. I was born in LaGrange KY(lived there for all of 4 weeks) and raised on a small farm (Poverty Ridge...my Dad's name for it) outside of a small town (Guyton) GA about 30 miles NW of Savannah GA. I joined the Air Force right out of high school (saw the world) and 22 years later found myself outside the base gate and in Sacramento CA (a wholly undeserved fate). I did a four and a half year tour of the private sector as a field engineer installing Air Traffic Control Radars for Raytheon Technical Services Co. LLC. at airports and bases all over the USA (and Kwajalein Atoll). I now work for the FAA at the Mahlon-Sweet (Eugene) Airport. I've lived here for the last 14 years now and at this point don't intend on moving again. Up until a few years ago my fishing had been reserved to trout fishing at Junction City Pond, Alton Baker Park and Leaburg Dam. My crabbing has been limited to docks at Newport (Sucessful for lots of reds and a few Dungies) and Florence, South Jetty (Unsucessful, not a single keeper Dungie yet). I am hoping to change all of that with the recent purchase of a boat. 1978, 19' Blue Water Cuddy Cabin (It's an oldie, but an oldie). At least initially my primary interest is in crabbing (I can use all the help I can get) and no, all the psychiatrists in town have already turned me down. Saltwater Fishing is quickly moving up the interest line now (Gotta do something while the pots are soaking). Gave up on the powered B.O.A.T. (Bust out Another Thousand) and recently purchased a Hobie PA12. I've been out of Sunset Bay once so far, but have greater plans of "World Domination" and am seeking like minded individuals to help. Well thanks for reading. There will be a test in my next post to see what you remembered. In all sincerity, I am happy to be a member of NWKA and hope to see and meet as many of ya'll as possible on the post, on the water and at the shows.

Hey Jim, good to see you in the forum. Looking forward to seeing what you get into with that PA12!

welcome Jim!

have you seen any of my kayak crabbing videos?  my first Hobie was a PA12 and that is a great crabbing yak, as is the new Outback that I ride now.

I crab the Siuslaw occasionally (when I just want crab), CoosBay cribs very often (adding lingcod and rockfish to the dinner menu), and out of Sunset Bay (whenever the ocean cooperates, I love fishing Simpson Reef....).

I'm happy to share what I know about these areas if you have specific questions, just PM me.   cheers, roger
