Is "Green Can" the name of your kayak?!  Way to go on the catching!

I'd guess the "green can" might be the green buoy at the Nisqually flats north of Olympia?

Sure sounds like it. Those are respectable fish from that area this time of year

I have not fished there but launched at the WDFG there to start a 8 hour paddle in a sea kayak to Alki beach.  You want to pay special attention to tides, winds and mud flats or pack enough supplies to sit in the mud through a tide change. 
Hopefully others more familiar will add suggestions, I just wanted to offer some safety comments for the area.  Parking is limited and I'm assuming a state pass is required.

And yes, state Discover Pass is required there. 

I think "Green Can" would be a good name for his kayak, too, though!

unless something has changed this year, all you need to park at Luhr is the parking pass that comes with the yearly license, cant remember what its called. Discovery pass will work too, but it was never needed before. And yes, really watch tides in this area, they get ripping. i like to launch just before high tide, go out and work the bottom during the lull, then let the outgoing push you over to the east to the far beach. When the tide rips to fast to effectively fish, i just chill and each lunch. then launch again before low slack, fish till it gets ripping to fast, and ride the current back to the beach. I dont like to paddle directly over the mud and cut the corner, so i just follow the pillings west till im in fron of luhr, then paddle straight in to the launch.

You all are far too cautious with the tides. I frequently launch on the flood and come back on the ebb. You can't paddle over mud, but you can sure paddle in 1.5' of water.
