I was 4 miles off-shore last weekend and one of the main screws on my Hobie vantage seat came out.....not cool. So I jammed it back in the best I could. Kept fishing.

So today I tightened up all the screws on my seat. And decided the-hell with those plastic stand up feet. All those cords dangling around...waiting to make friends with a lose fishing hook or other gear.....Cut them off. Who has actually used their Hobie vantage seat as a camp chair??? I would be surprised if anyone replied yes.

BTW: Hobie lists these chairs for $479!! How crazy is that! Call that criminal!

It is criminal.  That and a mirage drive and you are up to over $1000.  I spent $1799 on my first Outback in 2011.  I have a 2016 Outback and I think I like the 2011 better.  Why?  Because it is just as stable and I can easily lift it over my head for car topping or hauling down to the beach.  Also, my $479 seat fell apart within 1.5 years of purchase.

I think they will be lowering their prices, or at least they will stabilize soon.  Their patent on the Mirage drive expired and now another manufacturer, of much less expensive boats, is making a version.

I use my vantage seat frequently for kayak/camping and it’s worked out beautifully.  I do agree that it’s little overpriced but it’s far better than any camp chair I’ve tried in REI.
