Looking like Saturday the 4th might be my next grocery shopping trip to PC and TLW said she would be willing to kayak near shore (SUPER NEAR) like just beyond the breakers  :o so Tuesday will be my play in the breakers/practice re-entry day if the forecast holds.  ;D
Open invite BTW so post up if you can come play.

If you don't mind someone new to Pacific Ocean Kayak fishing tagging along, I have really wanted to get out there, especially with all the awesome photos coming in!  I could make it on the 4th.

I have a dry suit and kayak fishing experience, just haven't made it out to the salt yet.  I also had a question on Kayaks...I have a Hobie Pro Angler and a Trident Ultra 4.3 (Paddle only).  Would like to take the pro angler bc I haven't gotten around to setting up the Trident with a fish finder yet...However, the PA is a beast to haul around and not sure how it would handle in PC Ocean conditions. Would love some advice from the experience of the group.

I would recommend your paddle yak. The pa is a beast and will be a tough surf landing if you have never been in the salt before. I would recommend depoe bay for your pa. There is no surf launch there and it is much more doable in a PA. But if you feel comfortable launching/landing just make sure you have everything tied down because it's not if you will flip but when. Even in the calmest conditions it can be easily to get bucked off with a wave. PC is my favorite place to go but it's landing needs some prep work

If you use the PA, definitely wear a helmet upon landing.

Thanks for the quick reply's and advice. I think I will go with the Trident out of PC and maybe try the PA after getting the hang of the launch.

No Fish finder required to catch fish if you know the waters, I do know the water and mine are currently nonfunctional....but it does help. GPS and compass for sure. Keep it simple on gear you bring the less you have the less you loose. If you snag up all you bring out I’ll share  ;). We use (my son and I) trout rods with braided line25-35 lbs is fine. Pm me a number or email if you need tackle recommendations. I also bring a short stuff meat crane.

Shannon what time you heading out on Saturday. I have someone that might be going out of Depoe Bay with me (his first time in salt) if he bails I probably will be at PC.

Arriving on the beach at 0630-0700ish launching 45-60ish minuets after that as it’s all “ish” with me since I’m retired

Heads up for those launching at PC Saturday, high tide is at 6:20ish.
Dory boat drivers already discussing limited rigging and launching space.
Looks like it might be another entertaining beach day.

I got one extra going on but have a roof rack on the car as well. We’ll figure it out.
