Hi folks, I'm really glad I found this site as I've been doing more and more fishing from a kayak in the past 2 years, mostly lakes. This Fall I started salt water fishing and tried crabbing with great success although I plan to add outriggers primarily due to the laws of physics! Plus I want to add a swivel seat to better access the stern.

I would like to do some flounder fishing but one issue I have found is finding a launching point near the fishing grounds. Just yesterday I checked out Strawberry Point, Ala spit, Snee Oosh and Kukutali. Any tips for the Skagit, Fidalgo area. Anyone put in at Larrabee boat launch and fish around there? How about at Rosario?

BTW, I'm a recently retired old Hippy whose fished my entire life and always preferred rowing over motoring (still upset Pass lake is now catch and release only!). For years I've called fishing my 'alone time', but that was when I was a Social Worker! Now I wouldn't mind meeting a few folks who enjoy kayak angling in the area.

Welcome, Crabby! I'm just down south from you a bit in Snohomish, and met a few guys stationed in Everett at the recent kayak fishing event in Hoodsport. I sold my kayak last night and hope to be picking up a new one in the next week or two. Keep an eye on the Washington forum here and get it on any fishing meetups, or feel free to start your own. I'm still relatively new to kayak fishing, especially in the salt, so we would be interested in learning. I'd especially like to learn more about crabbing (where, how best to handle it from a kayak, etc.) if you're interested in sharing.

I've fished Rosario a few times, though haven't been there in a while.  It's a bit of a distance from the parking lot to the beach, and there's some logs to get past, but it is doable.  Pretty easy paddling unless you go a ways north of Northwest Island.  I dropped shrimp pots out there a number of years ago, and would like to do so again, but the currents can get challenging.

I've crabbed out of Larrabee a couple years back.  IIRC it's a pretty easy launch there.
