Yaksurf said he's coming up from Tracktown and Brad says he's coming down from Jet City, so I think we are looking pretty good on volunteers for this event.

Thanks for all the help.

Upcoming scheduled events for the PDX chapter are:
May 5th - Drano
June 3rd - Estacada Timber Park
June 9th - TBD (maybe Lacamas)

Had a few surprises there this morning, so just as a heads up....

The parking lot at Swan Island was full at 9:00am, as were the surrounding streets.
There were constantly 2-3 boats waiting to put in and take out.
The harbor master nicely kicked us out by the dry docks and boomed off the entire area.  He was fine but said his boss was the super threatening type.  I would guess it’s federal safety regulations of some sort.
There were 6-7 sturgeon fishermen - only 1 fish caught in 3 hours.

Is there any parking/launch fees we need to be aware of for the Swan Island ramp tomorrow?  I can't seem to find any information on it on the Google.

As far as I know it's free, just not the biggest lot, and there's a bunch of tweakers in the lot if you get there early (at least there were when I was there.)
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Thank you to Anthony and team for putting on an awesome event!! I believe all Veterans and volunteers caught at least one fish, it's unfortunately the oil booms were blocking the prime fishing grounds, but we all made do.

On a side note.... Who made the pickles?!?! Those were fantastic. I need to get the recipe!

Thanks to all the volunterrs for a great turnout. We had one old-tiimer huli up next to the booms and everyone did a great job of rendering aid to the gentleman. There's just no substitute for having all of your expertise and experience out there on the water. These events simply couldn't happen without ya'll.

Scott and his lovely assistant smashed the chow with some delicious chili-mac and some righteous bbq chicken to wrap up the day. Brad's kimchee pickles and jalapeños were the perfect toppers.

A shout out and congratulations to our treasurer Kayakin' Blaise who really wanted to be there yesterday, but brought a beautiful baby girl into this crazy world this week.

Looking forward, May looks kind of rough so our next event is looking like June 9th somewhere in SW WA with a group from the Vancouver VA.

Anthony
