I didn’t take many photos given that I wasn’t out on the water very long.   But I did take one of my daughter in her dry suit which is kind of cute.

Happy kid there!

I did not take many photos. Most were all failed attempts at capturing the whales that were popping up beside me.  I think the whales made the event.  They were so cool.

Anyways, I caught several lings and a few cabbies on both a green Lancer and a pink Lancer.  When things slowed down, I thought, "What would Annika (my daughter) do?"  So pink it was.

The three fish I chose to take home with me were caught on a top water crank bait, as well is the cabezon in the picture.  These Cotton Cordell 7" Redfins work on any aggressive fish, which is why so much paint is missing and they are covered in tooth marks. I like trolling them from spot to spot.  But it is my secret, so do not tell anyone.

28 inch ling and a couple fatty rockfish

19 inch cabby. I wasn't in the mood to clean a cabby.  Maybe a 24" or larger, but none of mine met that mark.

However, after turning my rockfish into these, I may start keeping more of them again.

So this was my first ORC and I gotta say it was a lot of fun.  Didn't meet a whole bunch of folks but in do time I will.  It was also my first time in the open ocean in my Native Watercraft Titan 12, my first ling cod ever caught, and first sea bass ever caught.  It was a lot of firsts for me but Definately not my last.  I ended up with a 32 in ling cod that was a fatty.  Got 2 nice sea bass also.  Looking forward to next year.

www.joincca.org.  There is a recipe section bottom right of the page. Or, here you go-last one in the pdf:

Also there were a couple errors. For the stuffing, they list salt and a special spice known as "salt and pepper."  My guess is the first was supposed to just be pepper.  We did the "salt and pepper."  1/4 tsp each because we made a half batch.

Here’s a couple pics of people heading out that morning.  And they are in reverse orde - (the single kayak was earlier than the group of ten) - if that helps you identify yourself.
