From the looks of the Bonneville numbers we aren't seeing much of a Coho run this year but the Klickitat may still be worth fishing...  My thought was to launch just upstream from the mouth on the Washington side and hover fish the mouth of the river and then possibly head upstream as well depending on how things go. Anyone care to share any tips for fishing it?

You're on the right track.  Hovering eggs or prawns is a consistent producer as is trolling the standard Pro-Troll / Superbait setup.  It's a fun maneuvering game when you're doing the hover loop.  :D

You'll usually find Gillnets across the river just below the boat ramp so going upstream may not be your best best.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Thanks Mark!

It will be my first time hover fishing so I am sure it will take some getting used to. Anything to target when looking at the fish finder? Ledges, drop offs, or just find the fish??

The other boats there will show you where you should fish.  ::)  ;D

Bring a variety of eggs to dial in the flavor of the day. A sand shrimp garnish can sometimes make all the difference. If the hover bite slows down try trolling small maglips up in the canyon & in the shallows for coho.
