I strap a hard-sided cooler in the rear cargo area of my Revolution for fish.  The cooler can carry a lot of fish, but when I pile a bunch of fish in the cooler, the fish on top of the pile don't get as cold as the fish on the bottom of the pile, because the fish on the bottom insulate the fish on top from the ice.  And it's hard for me to scoop ice from the bottom of the cooler on top of the fish.  Somehow all the ice ends up on the bottom of the pile.

So I made a mesh bag for ice cubes, and put about half my ice in the bag.  Before I dump a fish into the cooler I lift out the ice bag, and after I drop in the fish, I lay the ice bag on top of the fish.  It helps me keep all of my fish cold.

If you use a typical nylon mesh bag, it will soak up fish goobers, and will get stinky unless you wash it after each trip.  I used a rubber-covered nylon net which I took off one of my fishing nets when I replaced it with a rubber net.  This net rinses off easily, and doesn't get stinky.  Another option might be the nylon mesh bags which frozen turkeys come in, because they wouldn't soak up fish slime.

Here are a couple pictures of my ice bag.
