Do you know if they focus on fishing or is it more of just a kayak float?

No fishing that I know of, it's more of an upscale wine country paddle trip than a nature trip.  The cost is around $700 now for all the conveniences provided by the support crews.

If you want company, please post back here as you make plans. I'd like to take my son on a multi day trip this year.

I will definitely make a post about my planned times and would love any company I could get. It would be fun to meet people with the same hobbies as me and share some knowledge. Thanks for showing interest. I have enjoyed your YouTube videos!!

I'd be very interested in doing a Willy trip.  I'm kid friendly, kinda like a big kid myself.  So, if you're willing to make it public, let us know when you organize something.  COOL.

I will definitely make it public. If the group gets too big I may need help organizing a few things. I think it would be a fun trip to get people involved in!  I just accepted a job so will be moving to portland in two weeks. After I get my bearings at work I will start to plan. I am thinking that it will be at least a few months out. I am glad we are able to get interest in such a trip!

The willamette is fun and close in to towns as such you will see people. If you go out to say the John day you are more in the wilderness.

I've heard rumors the Kayak Shed John Day float is going to be the weekend following the BBBIII, so 6/10-12 if that helps with your planning.

That would be awesome!!  Are they open to people joining in?  Do you know if there is a cost associated with it?

Thanks for the update.  I will check out their website to see if anything on their states more about the trip.

Last year it was a "supported float" so there was a fee for all of the services provided by Kayak Shed.

I haven't done a multi-day trip on it but I have heard that it can be done on the Umpqua. Excellent smallmouth fishing similar to the John Day... but I think that it is fished a bit less because of access. There are also some decent rapids that you may have to portage but an extremely beautiful and unique river system.
