Their shop is up in Bellingham, WA.  I'm hoping to check it out soon.  Looks like a cool rig.

I'm kind of excited and confused by Tim Niemier and his new kayak.    Seems like he was working with Swell Watercraft and now he isn't.

This is from his new site..

"About a year ago I formed a partnership with Swell Watercraft and I redesigned this model after having over 20 years to think about it. In the summer of 2017 the partnership came apart Swell Watercraft is altering my original design so now I am updating the Swell Scupper design with a new team to make and sell them. I am calling my new kayak the ScupPro kayak."

Meanwhile, Swell Watercraft has a fairly active Facebook page, but not much of a site.

The basic boat looks about the same for both, but the Swell looks more set up for fishing.  The ScupPro is going with a rear hatch.

First two photos are the Swell Scupper 14 and the last is the ScupPro

I really like the idea behind this boat and have been trying to follow along. Any idea how to see one in person? I read something about Paddle People having one to try out, but that lead me on a bit of a goose chase...
Also, since the KickStarter campaign fell through, how are they selling these?

My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

I saw the Paddle People review of Facebook which makes me think they might have one here in Portland, but it isn't clear.    Did you try contacting them?  That was my next step, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Might ask them if there is any thought into making some type of DR receiving area, even if some customizing was necessary...

The second boat looks awesome but i am not fond of the second hatch.  I would prefer a tank well.

I'm pretty sure the only difference between the two boats is deck layout at this point ( Second hatch vs tank well.... built in tracks, rod holders... etc.. )
The width, length, draft, waterline, etc.. however seem identical.

Thanks for all of the follow up info Brian.
I was hoping to be in one of these boats earlier this year and had figured that there was some sort of issue or delays. Now I sort of feel like I need to test both. I used to paddle a DH T160 and I would be willing to go with another DH boat again.  Im not super excited about the accessories that Swell is adding to the design. I just see it getting heavier and I like to do my own work on naked plastic. I'll likely go with TN's boat.
I'm not positive, but it looks like Tim's earlier design might have a bit more bow volume and rocker.
I occasionally check with my preferred kayak shop about the "when can I test and buy?" and they haven't gotten any dates.
Thanks again B, and I hope all is perfect in your world.
