I am getting my kit ready to launch out of Sunset Bay and fish the Simpson reef area tomorrow, forecast looks solid- 3.5'P @ 12s + 1.1'S @ 6s, light winds from the north.   ;D

Planning to launch by about 8am, low tide is about 1pm, back to the bay by 2 or 3pm.   I'll be on my gray Oasis with my radio scanning all the normal channels.

cheers, roger

I was planning a Thursday trip there myself.  Perhaps we'll see each other.  If not, good fishing!

Isn't Sunset is on 8AM - 5PM winter hours?  Don't get ticketed.
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...

we were down a couple of weeks ago for the huge surf, the signs are now "Dawn to Dusk", which I take to be first light to last light, tomorrow that would be 6:52am to 6:10pm.

someone is about to head out at Sunset.....  have a great day!
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

That was me. It was a slow day today!  All said and done- 2 underlings, 1 small cabbie and 7 blacks,keeping 2 real nice size(16 3/4" on both) and loosing about another 7 or 8. The blacks you really had to work to find.

I left the bay just before that picture was taken, on my way to Simpson Reef.

I released this Hulk of a Cabby (landed on rockfish spinning gear), destroyed that Lancer Jig trying to get it out...

and I released 4 legal Lings that just weren't big enough to be my 2nd for the day...went home with a Simpson Reef Hat Trick- a dark brown Ling, a Black Rockfish and 6 large solid crabs...and I had the reef to myself, not a single powerboat fishing anywhere near it.

but the swell was all mixed up and coming from all directions, not big swells but steady pounding from all directions...classic washing machine day but worth it.
