Tillamook County Sherriff reporting hundreds of cyclist on the road tomorrow.

It's looking more like a few thousand. Get there early and leave through Sand Lake. Parking lot will be packed with cyclists by mid afternoon.

How is it going out through sand lake, and probably more importantly getting back in?  I'm new and trying to learn the nearshore rockfish game.

So, by "leave though Sand Lake" I meant the drive out of PC, since the traffic was NUTS with the event and all.  I wouldn't recommend launching/landing at Sand Lake unless you really knew what you were doing.  The beach launch on the south side of Cape Kiwanda is about the easiest launch one can find on the North Oregon Coast, so I recommend using it until you've learned how the surf works and how to manage it.

Also, here's a report!

Fishing was a bit slow for some that I talked to.  I was able to manage steady rockfish action near the rock.  Not on fire, but steady.  I threw back a half dozen or so smaller ones and kept the three that fought the hardest.  I picked up two lings, one north of the rock about 32" and one west of the rock about 30".  Lost a monster.  I felt like the conditions would have been better but it ended up being a sloppy day with plenty of wind chop.  Not much swell - launch and landing was a cake walk.

Nice photography!  Even the gopro shots are good which is saying something. :)
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.
