Ok surf was ok someone ate it on the launch, won’t mention cjweinhe’s name ... I’ll let him post that up. I took no fish home and the only one I caught was only fit for a peanut butter sandwich  :spittake: yup a jelly fish .... so no skunk for me right?? Landing was easy bailout in 2.5 ft of water. The other guys caught fish I’ll let them post that up.

It was fun day.  We loaded Mojo's trailer up so it would get stuck in the sand. (And it did).  It's great to see how helpful people are when someone gets stuck in the sand.

First time out in the ocean.  It was great.   Spilled in the surf on my first launch attempt, but I think I kept all my gear. Lots of large jellyfish and the whales were keeping us company.

I caught a 19 inch Cabazon and 26 inch Lincod on a 4 oz lancer jig (waterdog color).  I'm not convinced there is a lot of value in the shrimp flies. Might switch those out of swim bait next time. Here are  some pics.

Love those glassy days! Super jealous - I've missed too many conditions windows this year. My time will come...

I know those pics were behind the cover of Chief Kiawanda rock, but how could conditions at PC and Depoe Bay be so different.  My stomach thought Depoe was a washing machine Saturday.
Swells will bounce off the rocky cliffs that surround Depoe Bay, resulting in waves coming at you from multiple directions.  Combine that with the boat wakes of vessels leaving and entering the harbor, and it can be a straight-up washing machine in the bay while conditions are calm outside.  I noticed on Saturday that the ocean was much, much nicer once you traveled west past the 100 foot contour.
