Has anyone heard anything about herring in the bay recently? It was about this time last year some of us were getting them. With the river being a little high this weekend and the ocean being unfriendly lately, this weekend I’ve been going a bit stir crazy trying to figure out some productive kayak fishing opportunity’s.

My friend who lives in Newport says they are there, just not really bunched up tight yet.

Casey - I'd be up for that. Maybe get some perch fishing in also.

Yes, the Herring are here!
With the higher full moon tides, there are probably some fresh schools coming in to spawn.  Herring have been in the bay for a while now, just not congregated.  We caught about 150 today near the Embarcadero sea wall (on the marina side).  Didn't seem to find any schools near the NOAA boats or Coast Guard station.  Hope to find some more tomorrow!!

Definite maybe. NOAA forecast has NW wind 20 to 25 kt. w/wind waves 6 ft. NW swell 12 ft. We'll have to keep our eye on that.  I'll give you call or you can call me this week to work out details. If we decide to go, YS & I might stay the weekend at South Beach State Park.
