Hi I just joined

I live in Alaska, used to own a kayak guide service, and now drive charter boat for a lodge.

On long winter days I am more than happy to answer any email questions I can about Alaska and I am looking to do some warm water paddling next winter and would like to hook up with a trip to Hi or Baja.

It is a small family run lodge owned by a school teacher from Wasillia and his brother in Hawaii.
They bought a 20 acre abandoned cannery site on an island in southern Prince William Sound and built 3 log cabins last summer.  Since I used to be a Kayak Guide in Seward I suggested that they also set up a Tent Camp for kayakers.  They cleared 4 tent sites on a small bluff overlooking the bay and this spring we will put up 4 large tents with extra large rain flies.

We have a float house that we are going to put up on the beach below the tent camps that we can use for the kitchen and bath for the Kayakcamp.

I have a Seaward Southwind fg double that I use for fishing.  It has a center cargo hatch that I put a plastic tote in for fish.

Pink salmon return to the hatchery here in Sawmill Bay by the millions in June and there is also a good supply of Chum, Sockeye and Coho.

One of the carpenders building the cabins last year caught a 140 pound halibut off the dock and I have caught several 50 to 150 pounders within sight of the Kayakcamp.

Since you haven't posted the links to the lodge/camp, but sent them to me to post on the site links page, I'll post em here too.

And I have a few questions.

Do you have kayaks at the lodge?  How many and what kind?
How much for a water ride out there and back?  With kayaks?  From Seward?  From Whittier?
How much for a seaplane ride out there and back?  From where?

I'll be in your neck of the woods at the end of July.  Just looking into other options to check out while I'm there.

At the Kayakcamp we have 2 fiberglass doubles by Seaward, a southwind & a passat and a tupperware single by Prjon.

We also work with the Seward & Whittier kayak companies that do rentals.

I have asked the Talvi's to put together a special discount for Kayak Clubs and Kayak Fishing Clubs since I feel that people who are interested enough to join a club are the easiest and most interesting people to work with and once we show what this area has to offer that we will have returning groups each year.

I recommend a 7 day stay inorder to see just some of what the area has to offer.

We are 70 miles south of Whittier and 60 miles east of Seward.  Both towns have train service from Anchorage and the train ride is well worth the trip.   We can pick you up from either town.

Total package would be $780 for the 7days 6 night kayak camp with water taxi both ways from Seward or Whittier.  Based on a party of 4 and early booking.

I have emailed the Talvi's to ask what the float plane rate would be and will post that as soon as I fing out.
