I kayak fished a lot a couple years ago. I知 part of NCKA. I知 deaf.

I致e mostly stopped in the last year and half due to heart issues. But I知 getting to the point where I think I might get healthy enough and light enough to kayak fish again next spring.

Which leads me to this post. I will be in Vancouver Island Port Hardy from August 11-18. 4 days will be charter fishing. Three days out of port hardy and one day out of winter harbor.  I知 hoping to kayak fish a couple days.

Any guide recommendations? I don稚 mind a long drive south if needed. I壇 like halibut and salmon ideally.

Thanks. I値l post in the appropriate forum later but as this is why I am joining the forum I figured I壇 bring it up here.

I've never been that far north on the island, so I don't have any intel for you. Hope you get your health issues straightened out and get to have an awesome trip. Many of us have had close calls with other vessels and I can hardly imagine how vigilant you would have to be without being able to hear hazards coming towards you. Hats off to you man, hope you find somebody who can steer you toward the fish you are hunting for. Keep an eye out for float planes up there.

Welcome ZenBJR,

I'm on the Southern part of the island.  I've actually never been that far up the island but I hear it's beautiful up there.  I would assume the water up near Port Hardy would be similar to Campbell River and it can get pretty nasty.

I'm laid up due to a recent surgery.  Hoisting and pedalling a kayak is off limits for a little bit.

South Island, Halibut season is closed.  If you're on the South Island, hit the following Link.  It should help you out a bit.
