I heard a couple reports from power boaters today that the fishing was hot in multiple spots in area 8-2 and see similar reports on NWFR.

Is anyone fishing that area in a kayak? It seems like it might be a good place to check out, with locations like Camano Island State Park and others that could be good launch sites.

A friend was on Camano this weekend and said he saw a lot of boats off the parks and the water was nice an calm.  He talked with some coming off at the boat landing and there were a few fish caught mostly trolling and hunting.  More seal issues again.  Worth checking out as it looks like some good launches.

Ravensfan hits the Island on and off and might be able to offer some good tips.

Hi Jason, I’ve caught blackmouth out of Elger bay on Camano before, but not from the kayak yet. It’s an easy paddle from the state park.  I would recommend finding bait, and mooching or dropping a crippled herring jig to entice a bite. If you don’t have any luck on the salmon front, you could try for flounder. I’ve caught a lot of them out in front of the beach at the park using a drop shot rig with small chunks of squid or clams.  Here is a pic of a blackmouth I caught yesterday from a pb at Possession. Good luck out there!

I have been fishing 8-2, out of Everett a couple times, around gedney/hat Is. and not had much luck but i have been searching for flounder and still working out my gear.
I see powerboats trolling talked with a couple but most say shakers or hooked into 1 for the day.
