I bought a Daiwa ICV 15L Line Counter Reel 2 years ago. I absolutely love it. It has a electronic reader for a line counter. Unfortunately the battery went dead after 2 years, about 15 times it has been used. Called Daiwa and was told I need to send in pay to have batteries replaced $26 which would include cleaning also plus what ever the shipping cost will be. They will not give out directions on replacing batteries. Has anyone else replaced the batteries on these reels. The specs say they should last 3 - 5 years so I am going to need to figure this out.

Here's a link to the parts diagram. http://www.daiwa.com/Documents/PartsDiagram/ADICV15L.pdf

Get yourself to part 20 and take it apart and find the battery. I'm guessing that it'll be a lithium button battery; it should have a number on it that you can use to replace.

One concern would be if there is a gasket that seals up the IC Module. Be careful. If you doubt your skills, send it in; it's still cheaper than messing up that module.

You could also try taking it into Ollie Damon's to see what they say.

judging by my experience w/ ollie damon's, there's almost no way it'll end up less expensive going through them rather than sending in to daiwa.
