Wanted to get some ideas of where we can take vetrans for lake and mild river fishing between Astoria and Newport as well as west of the coast range. I have a fairly good handle on the Tillamook area but would love input from guys that have spots to recommend. Please list address if you have one as well as amenities, if there's a fee, and what the catch menu is. Thanks.

Don't everyone speak up at the same time... I'm not asking for your sectret drive 2 miles up a back country road hike 1/2 mile up a farmers access road and crawl trough the briers secret spot.... just big old family fun lakes on the coast, we won't steal your fish I promise.

Chinook bend is a good option.  Easy access to rockfish and ling cod out of depoe bay for the experienced veterans.  Siletz river is easy access and potential good salmon catching this time of year.

Launch at south beach marina in Newport to fish and crab in yaquina bay.  Salmon, rockfish, herring, crab.

Olalla lake near Toledo has stocked rainbow trout. Easy access, fun lake fishing.

Devils lake of course. You already did Netarts for clamming, why not crabs ?

You could do a clamming expedition at Netarts, use the kayaks to get across the bay to the sand bar in the middle.  You'll might possibly have to wait until you have waders and splash tops available for the vets.

There's also hee hee ilahee park that is near the town of siletz.  It is a nice launch for floating the siletz river -- could probably catch steelhead, cutthroat or just have a fun paddle on the river from there.  I thought that was another suggestion in addition to aforementioned reservoir.
