Georgian Bay trip report

I just finished up a trip to my families ancestral fishing grounds on the east central Georgian Bay in Canada.  I figured I would share some pictures.  I even uploaded my first video!  We will see if it works.

ICFC fish

It was a fantastic trip.  I logged 110 miles in my Revo 13 over the course of about 2 weeks, and lost count of all the small-mouth bass and northern pike I caught. 

I had some nice bass with the largest being just over 3 lbs. 
The largest pike I got on this trip was 5 lbs. 

I have been going up to the same spot every summer since I was born, and I hope to keep it going until I am too old to climb in a boat. 

This was the first time I had my Hobie though.  It made a huge difference.  In the past, I have split my time between fishing from a boat and fishing from a kayak.  Now that I have pedal drive, the kayak is my go-to in pretty much any condition.  I am impressed at how many more fish I am catching in waters that I know well, and more importantly, how much more fun I am having with this boat. 

The only problem is that the Hobie garnered a lot of attention, and I think I spent as much time talking to excited future kayak fishermen and women as I did fishing.   

The camp that I go to has family style meals in a big dining hall. On the first day I parked my kayak on the beach and walked in to breakfast, I came out to a crowd gathered on the beach looking at it.  It was actually kind of embarrassing.

I had  blast indeed. 

If the winters didn't suck so bad I would move there in a heartbeat. 

all these posts about hobies are making me kinda jealous.. but looks like you had a blast!

Wow, brings back some good memories of growing up in Bay City, Mich and taking trips to Wawa and north shore Lake Superior for pike!!   I sure miss the pike, an old timer (now I'm one) showed me how to fillet out those "Y" bones, they are delicious fried in butter and breaded with Progresso panko lemon breadcrumbs!!.
