I'm running an Uniden Atlantis 250.  Great radio that comes with both a rechargeable battery and an extra "emergency" battery pack that you can put AA batteries into.  Fairly decent battery life on both power versions.

It is a bit large, but it floats.

ICOM IC-M34  So far I love it, decent battery life, floats, easy to use, hasn't broken yet ;D with lots of salt water use

Standard Horizon HX280s. 2 years old. Previously dropped in the salt. Works just fine. Wish more guys had any unit.
Bummer when you can't communicate let alone safety.
