Sorry to hear. I was really hoping for inevitable future-hooked me that you'd answer "no" to the first part. So how'd that happen in the first place?

  Had to of been "operator error"
  at least that has been my story before.

Absolutely operator error.  After a day of steelhead fishing on the coast, we were cleaning out the boat.  Without paying attention, I slid my hand down the rod to pick it up out of the boat, plunging my finger into the hook of the hotshot plug.  I kinda got pinned to the rod at the hook keeper for a minute.

once that happens, you're "fishin' buddies"  previously you were "guys that fish together"
