Post by: AKsteel7377 on June 04, 2019, 08:56:15 AM
Looking at going down to the Gulch for a few days if anyone is interested. May swing by the spit as well and see whats going on down there.  Gonna head down on 6\10 and depending on weather stay till the 14th. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up  ;D

I'll join you tomorrow afternoon for low (and high if fishing is slow). Haven't planned it out yet but I'll probably want to launch around 4.

I'm actually going to try to hit the water at about 3:30, looks like the difference between on-shore/off-shore slack is short today.

Fishing report for 6/11...Fished the morning high tide with no luck. I was fishing between 55' and 65'. I saw some boats picking up a few fish but otherwise it was pretty slow
The afternoon low tide was much more productive and fun. I got to meet and fish with Sockeye. What a great time being able to fish with people from the forum. We went south quite a ways and fished around 65'. Picked up a few chickens, had some great conversation and all in all a great day....

Great photo! Another day of fishing yesterday and another two chickens in the freezer.

Everything we caught this week had crab and sandlance in the stomachs. AKSteel took in the biggest fish of the week, if I recall correctly it came in at 27 pounds. Both days we were out at about 60 foot of water and several miles south of the launch.

Most importantly we had a couple of safe, relaxing days that didn't involve any sprinting against the tides. It's always nice to spend time slaughtering fish out on the water with new friends.

The only complaint I have from the week is with whoever felt like getting in a wreck on the Sterling last night, turned a one hour drive into a six hour drive. Luckily we left the house prepared and just decided to camp out for a few hours while the tow trucks cleared the road.

Good job!  With no emergency closings, the King's second run should be late June-early July at WG.
