Anyone have a good solution for getting both a revo and an outback on a truck top roof? I've got a fiberglass truck cap with 2 thule wingbars (not sure on that model, but they're one of the aerodynamic ones). Both boats together are around 150 lbs and 65" wide (revo 31", outback 34"). I'd like to avoid stacking them if possible. I was thinking a J-style rack for the revo and laying the outback flat, but I've got no experience with those J-style racks. I can't be the first one to try and stick two heavy boats on a truck top, so I figured I'd see what others have done. I'm fine spending some money on racks/accessories, just looking for recommendations. So if you've got a J-style setup you like maybe share the brand (or one to avoid).
My current setup is a harbor freight trailer and it works fine. But I'm working remotely now and I'd like to head up to explore Vancouver island for a few weeks and don't really want to be hauling that trailer.
Thanks!

J cradles are fine just be sure to use bow and stern straps and tie to the cross bars not just the j cradle. I have done the double stack but on my Malone seawing so right side up.

If you get the Thule rectangular bars, you can easily carry two kayaks on longer bars. I carried two Outback’s a couple times and would easily carry an Outback and OK Trident on two 75” bars ( and one 72” on the back for loading….) on that truck canopy - I got a different truck this year.
My new truck has racks over the bed (no canopy) that are 72” wide and I easily carry the Outback and Trident 13 on that rack. The T13 has a high nose and I have to carry it upright on a holder.

How about a Hull A Vator set up for one side??

The canopy that I have on my F-150 came with the Yakima rack. I added the 70" core bars, the big catch saddles, and the showboat 66 roller. No problems with getting the kayak loaded (the roller helps a bunch) and there is plenty of room for 2 outbacks. The only drawback is the bars do stick out beyond the canopy, but they are high enough to walk under.

Easy....

- 60" crossbar
- Yakima Showboat 66 assist roller bar
- Malone Megawings on the passenger side for the Revo
- Yakima Big Catch Saddles for Outback
Process:
1.) Have all the straps pre-looped
2.) Load the Revo and strap it down first
3.) Load the Outback
4.) Run Bow and Stern tie-downs
I can get both loaded and unloaded in under 15 minutes.

Last paragraph, he has one. ;)

Excellent , thanks for the info everyone! This is just what I was looking for.

A bit pricey, but Hullavtors are pretty hard to beat. We put a Revo 11 and my Outback on the roof if a mid size SUV and on the Thule pickup racks on my truck.

i added a 2x4 on each of my bars to give me more width lol. Its quite redneck but it works

On my previous trailer I laid an Outback flat and put my Revo in a J-rack. Worked fine. (48" bars)

I've done the same except on top of my car. Revos are fine in J-racks.

+1, I use this to carry a Revo 13 & AI on a station wagon. Additional redneck points for the ropes that secure the 2x4s to the bars.
Just watch your head..... those 2x4 corners hurt like a mother.

Thanks y'all! I went with the 60" bars and J-racks. Holy hell they're proud of those bars $$$.
Good to hear a bit about everyone's set up. I'm certainly interested in the showboat roller/hullavator lift assist options, maybe when I get over the sticker shock from this last purchase I'll add one of those.
I've just got 2x4s and a bit of a wooden cradle on the bow (added after the attached pic) for my trailer and that works fine. I would have just taken that but I don't trust those Harbor Freight tires to make the ~4hr journey on gravel to Bamfield. I've been meaning to upgrade the rack on my truck for a while now too, so this was an excuse.

I went straight white trash and used black Harbor Freight Zip Ties.

I fit 1 Revo and 1 Outback on my SUV. Saddles go out to the edge of the bars with a couple inches space between the yaks.

I was initially looking at Yakima Big Catch but then found and ordered these on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F21RLVF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For $80 it should be a decent alternative to the Yakima product. They should arrive on Sunday and I will compare them to the Big Catch.
