Dylan is a great guide, specializing in salmon and steelhead, mostly on the Alsea. He was unable to donate a trip to us this year, but offered to do a talk, webinar, or some such thing.
So my question is, how many of you would be interested in participating in something like that?
-
I would!
-
Count me in.
-
I’m definitely interested!
-
OK, glad there is some interest!
So, couple questions....
First, what would y'all like a talk about? Salmon, steelhead, or ?
Secondly, I'm admittedly a bit of a Luddite, does anyone know the best way to do this thing? Guessing Zoom? I assume a question and answer type deal would be preferable to something prerecorded?
Totally open to ideas and suggestions here!

I was hoping that someone more into webinars would reply before me…. I have only used Zoom and FaceTime - it’s not my thing either.
I’m mostly interested in the timing and techniques for the coastal salmon and trout species. On his website it looks like he targets at least 4 species. I’m trying to get my son (who lives in the area) hooked on fishing (again), and this fall was way different than previous years and I learned too late how I should have adjusted our locations - it is a new area for me.
If there aren’t enough people to make a webinar feasible, I’m fine with that also, now I know a good guide familiar with that area.

I'd like to learn some about the Alsea Tidewater salmon fishery. I think Zoom may be the easiest way to interact with people. Facebook live would work but offers less interaction.
-
OK, well, we should decide on a date and time to do a zoom meeting.
Dylan will certainly be able to answer your questions Zach!
My first time out with him, we fished the mouth if the Alsea. We got a double hook up within a few minutes of deploying our baits. We lost one, but then hooked another before the remaining nook from the double was landed. Both were pushing 20 lbs.. Despite a number of other boats, ours were the only fish I saw. To be fair, it was one fish per person limit, there was only two of us, so we weren't there long. Shortest guided trip of my life. I think it was about an hour, and the majority of that was just getting to n from the river mouth.
I know he does good on the steelhead too.

So what day of the week, and time of day, would work for y'all?
-
I’m pretty open on day or time, though probably not 5 - 6:30 PM.
