Wow! That's a once in a lifetime fish!  Caught a 13 lb native once a long time ago and that took me 15 or 20 minutes to land, what a rush.

I don't know if I could take a SOT down  the duc, not about to try it without some expertise at my side.

Nice fish and story of the battle.  You've moved up AOTY.  I knew I shouldn't have gone to Thailand. ;) I had better start looking for monster yellow perch.

It's tough to get a 200 pt Lake Perch.

Processed out it was still a big fish. The wife did a miso-based stew from the head, bones and trim last night, had 8 people over and there is still 2 gallons left. Grilled about 2 pounds last night. Smoking some today. It taste as good as it looks like it should.

The "waste" from this buck was carried in one hand from the filet table to the compost pile.

High water steelhead season is upon us I thought I'd rekindle this report of such an awesome catch from the kayak. I can't imagine the fight that ensued on the water with this monster and I can only hope to have a similar experience one day. Still, Todd's words of wisdom resonate so true, "No fish is worth dying over. Stay inside your limits and live to fish another day."
