Did some island hopping yesterday here in the dalles.due to the wind i had to just kayak to a new spot then walk the islands.but it paid of with nice fish.i was throwing husky jerks,my favorite.47°water.a pair of  20 inch bronzebacks.
4th place 2017 TBKD Rockfish.

Nice fish! The spring bass bite is starting, lots of reports of it coming on now in the smaller lakes where water temps are about 50 degrees. I'm still working them off their beds in deep water. Can't wait for them to stack up on the weed beds in a few weeks. :banjo:

I usually wait until the water hits 50°, but I think I'm getting the smallmouth season going next week.

Nice report Yaktastic, those are some nice smallies.  Is your island hopping spot the string of islands just upriver from the county ramp?  I have come up and fished around those quite a bit, its a great kayaking place for yakkers to get into the fish! Tried any tubejigs yet?
