Even though i'm rather disgusted by all this talk of Urchins, Eels and periwinkles..

I'm not a big fan of most unfish like seafood, as you can probably tell. But at some restaraunt in San Fran i did have some oysters, on the half shell . i think it was broiled and had a crust on it, bread, cheese and spices , i guess. It was pretty good. Who has a good recipe for something like this?

Cooked oysters?  :violent5:
:icon_scratch::crybaby2:

Sorry, I guess I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to Osyters.  I like them raw, so it pains me to hear of them being covered up and cooked.

I'm always a just little leery of attempts to cover up the taste of seafood with bread, cheese, and spices.  I wonder what the chef is trying to hide.  For example, I tend to avoid the "cajun salmon special" on a Monday night if I know that the fresh fish at that restaurant comes in on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Good luck on finding your recipe.  It's actually a fairly common method of cooking Oysters so it shouldn't be that hard.

Brian

Oh ... oysters on the BBQ.  Mouth watering.

Natural juices, a sprinkle of beer, sake, or white white, and a splash of hot sauce/salt/pepper and you're so good to go.  At Moutcha last year, we had a fantastic oyster feed.

Okay, I have to admit that heating oysters up a bit on the grill is pretty darn good.

When I was in Santa Rosa we would go out to the fishermans festival in Bodega bay for BBQ oysters. I have developed a bbq sauce just for seafood that is slightly sweet but has a bite to it. I got a dozen oyster once and brought them home for the wife and I to bbq, she went to the nieghbors for a few minutes and when she got back they where gone and half of bottle of wine left. ::)
I am not to found of Rockefeller cause I don't like Pernod (licorice) flavored booze, unless its straight from the freezer like ouzo.

After looking at that recipe , i don't think it was rockefeller. I don't drink alchohol, im pretty sure i would have known if it was in the dish. Especially something nasty like pernod..
