i11s fishing test

These look like a bunch of fun. It would be fun to catch Shad at the Garbage hole in summer or drop crab traps at any bay or beach easily. Very flexible for the family too.

took my Oasis out crabbing/bottom fishing near the Siuslaw bar yesterday and it brought into focus the difference between it and the i11s:

the Oasis is a 'big ass SUV':  2 crab traps, bottom fishing gear, sonar, Vantage seat...fully loaded, it was stable and got the job done.

the i11s is a 'Miata'.

Roger, that is a butt load of gear on your Oasis! Reminds me of my garage -- when I can get the door closed ...

That seems low, or was it a typo?  Most of the inflatable SUPs are 14-18 psi.

My Quicksilver inflatable (Zodiac-like) fills to about 4.5 psi.   An inflator with a pressure cut-off is very handy for that large a boat.

I don't know what pressure I am getting by using the Hobie manual pump but it is self limiting- when the pressure gets high enough you can't get more in as it leaks out at the pump-to-boat connection...

great timing to bump this:  I just finished a fixture that will let me use the Elite-4 and transducer that I hang off the side of my Oasis.  I already had the ram mount bases so the only cost was about $25 for a 4' Lowrance power cable...time to take the i11s out fishing...cheers, roger

I'm super attempted to buy this instead of 2015/2016 outback.  I always dreamed of traveling to Patagonia, Argentina for king salmonoid.  With this I can practically bring all my gear and then some.

I gotta ask how durable this material is.  I've never had experience with inflatable boat and heard some horror story of delamination.  Also, how easy it is to repair and patch them if I accidentally hook and puncture the boat?

on my first outing with fishing gear on board I quickly concluded that it would be almost impossible to hook the outer fabric, I was tossing/laying spinners on the deck without concern.  The outer surface is very dense and smooth.  Perhaps by stepping on a large treble hook you could get a hook into it, but that is a stretch.  I think short of stabbing it with a sharp knife, it would be very difficult to puncture.  While I am obviously going to take care of mine, I am not treating it as fragile or easy to damage.  So far mine has been tied up to and rubbed against several docks and has no marks or damage from that.  That big gnarly Cabby that I caught the other day has me thinking about how I would have dealt with that on the i11s, I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it, taking this boat into the ocean comes first...
