I'm going to be in Hayden tomorrow for a soccer tournament and in between games my boys are going to go kayak fishing.

Where should we put in??

Never fished there man. Cant help much. But if you got the kayak and a fish finder, you can find them and not have to wait for them to find your bait.

Put in at the free game dept. ramp at the north end of the lake. After launching take a right turn and fish the little bay Lillie pads if they are up. Then work the docks on the  west side using dark 4" Senko's and deep diving plugs. Some nice smallies hang out there....warf

Ok.

Is it safe to kayak on bigger lakes like pend orielle? Ive heard many people say it isnt a good idea and sometimes the waters are quite rough

Be cautious anytime you go out.  Lakes can get rough when the wind picks up,  however with experience you'll get the hang of it.  I've been on a lakes with wind and it's not much fun to fish, because your fighting the wind, but I enjoy it if I stop fishing.

I'd highly recommend that you go out in calm conditions if your going alone at first, or better yet go with a more experienced paddler.

Thanks Warf - I'm going to try that next time.  I missed your message and we ended up fishing off of honeysuckle rd.  We didn't catch anything but it was a nice diversion for a few hours between soccer tournament games.
