howzit everyone,

I recently bought a used Hobie from Jeff White here in AK.

Took her out on a maiden voyage to Hesketh Island this weekend. Picked up 10 and 16# Pacific Halibut this morning.

Stoked.

Nice job.  You have already surpassed many of us as far as halibut.  Look forward to seeing what else you catch

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

If you weren't in Alaska I'd suggest that your maiden voyage ruined kayak fishing for you.

Keep doing what you're doing & keep the fish pics coming!

Nice! I just got my first halibut from a kayak not far from there, too - just off MacDonald spit.

Congrats HG on the achievement. You've broken the ice now and got slime in the boat.  That size makes great beer-batter halibut sandwiches on a toasted hamburger bun and plenty of tartar sauce.  Like mahi mahi sandwiches.

Wait til you tie into a 40 pounder. You will swear its a hundred til you get it up.  They are one fish that gives you your money's worth on every hookup no matter their size.

Hopefully Cook Inlet prospects will improve as the summer progresses and you will be able to start raising the bar on future outings.

Nice job!  It's been too long since I've felt the telltale throb of a galloping halibut.
