Anyone else looking to make a trip out of Fogarty this Friday? Not perfect, but looks pretty fishable.

Doing depoe instead. Hauling my yak across that sand kicks my ass. Getting old sucks.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Super thick nearshore fog the last few days, predicted to continue into Saturday. I want to fish this week, but am willing to pull the plug if the fog is horrible like it is this morning. Just FYI for you guys driving any distance to the coast.

That's the rub for Friday
I hate wandering about in the fog, 50 yards visibility and too many powerboats running wide open.

What forecast are you seeing that is showing Friday to be good? Magicseaweed at Otter rock showing
Primary - 2.5 @ 10
Secondary - 1.6@16
Tertiary - 2ish @ 8

It seems like primary and tertiary will combine for some decent bumps especially since they are at slightly different directions.

Would definitely be bumpy, but it is the fog will keep me in the valley and not drive 2hrs just to turn around. Merwin has been good and there are a few fish in the Columbia.

Visibility at Fogarty today was less than 100yds at 8am and then many miles by 9am.
Yesterday the fog was more persistent.

All forecasts now point to Saturday as the best day of the week.

Fog burned off nicely around 0930 this morning. First time Newport's seen sun in a while. I'm comfortable navigating through fog. It's the other boats on full plane not paying attention to their surroundings that spook me. A kayaker was recently run over by a boat down in NorCal, and it messed him up real bad.

Saturday is looking good and particularly if the fog backs off. Is anyone else going? I am thinking of maybe a bit of a later start just in case the fog is still hanging around.

Visibility was back down to a few hundred yards by 1 pm.
And, it is sure to change again. :)

100% agree. I'm hoping for some sort of natural occurrence that diverts the creek straight to the waters edge and drops in a plastic liner to create a natural slip and slide from the parking lot.
Do you hear that, Mother Nature? Help us out here.

I launched from Fogarty around 0700 this morning. The fog came and went through the morning, and I relied on my electronics to navigate for nearly the entire time. Thirty minutes later, I hooked my first coho at the 100 ft contour. Quickly followed him up with another coho of nearly the same size. I love those days where you score two keepers fast without wading through wild coho! Then I went out another mile or so to my lingcod spot. Had to linger on the sidelines while a charter boat made several drifts over my waypoints. Once the charter left, I swooped in and nabbed 30 and 32 inch lings in quick order.

Great day  ;D.
