So we fish all the time and we see the garbage that's floating around.. We pick up what we can but we're fishing. How about taking some time when we're not fishing to clean up and chat w/ our bruddahs? All you need is some spare time, a garbage bag, and you're doing a lot for the health of the place you fish and the creatures in the habitat. Post here to organize a beach clean for your local water.
Thanks.

Anyone down for a Richmond Beach beach clean? I've got some time Thursday afternoon. Say 6-7PM. Any and all welcome. I'll bring bags.

I'd be there, but Thursday nights I stay with my mother.  If I bail on my 83 yo, widowed Mom I'll be there.

Early in the morning on some weekends, I go down to our Local Port.....patrolling the basin in me Yak picking up trash.
I pick up whenever I can, wherever I'm at.
I remember the crying Indian commercials.

Great idea Zee, along those lines I think I will start a new personal yaking tradition.  I think I will throw an extra yard debris bag or two in the truck. Every time I fish, once done fishing ;D and getting the gear loaded up, I will take 20 min or so picking up what trash there is laying around. If nothing else it might build some karma points, never can have to many of those ;D...

I can't tell you how easy it was to fill my rear tank well with trash while fishing in San Diego Bay or even off the coast of Point Loma down there. :angry7: That's one of the things I love about the Oregon coast, you don't see too much of that up here.

I've gone from taking a single garbage bag along with me, to keeping several in the car...

this is from my "secret" sturgeon spot.  Trashed nightly by poachers/teenagers

ironically enough, on that trip, the second garbage bag was already there and contained one single beer can.  i've hauled as many as 4 bags out...

I'll be heading that way over the TG holiday. I'll bring garbage bags & call you when I get there.

:angel7:while i am definitlynot a little angel, i have had very few instances of bringing only one bag of garbage after a paddle.I always carry a couple.

I think it's a great idea to get people to find a nearby beach   & gather to pick up garbage .  i  hate to feel like the garbage police :police: but i really hate when i find things like the plastics rings that hold cans of your favorite beverage :spittake:floating in the water or washed up on the shore.

i live up north in marysville, but i think even if ya can't make it to Richmond, just try to remember to stick that extra hefty bag in your boat every time you go paddling,&
:fish: just imagine how trash that would add up to over a short time.
It's a great idea Zee

That post was actually from quite a while back. But if there's some interest I'd be down to give it a shot again. Anyone?
