Hello all NorthWest Kayak Anglers,

I'm excited to begin giving you the fishing reports from Northern Idaho. My goal is to share with you the many hot spots around Lake Pend Oreille area and inform all the bite, to bring all you kayak anglers to the Panhandle!

There sure is a lot of fishing up here and I have been trying to go to as many lakes, rivers and sloughs as possible. I have been fishing with Wilderness System Team for a while in Southern California. Moved out here just a year ago and fished my first tournament at Lake Pend Oreille. Tough fishing, but hooked a 4 lb Rainbow and a Lake trout on the last day of fishing 5 days straight.

Launching somewhere around here is never a problem. I launched from Garfield Bay one day and headed south, the next day same launch area but headed north due to wind direction. Following day launched from Talache, which is about 6 miles south of Garfield Bay, and paddled south. Fourth day from Hope ramp and the last day at the mouth of the Clark Fork River on the east side of the lake, which was my favorite...it was really tucked back in there, primitive, easy access and clean.

The fishing incentive here pays $15 a head for all Rainbows and Makinaws which is bonus.

Just drifted the Clark Fork River from the Montana border below the fish hatchery. Took the Ride, no fishing poles, just great 8 mile scenic paddle.

Let's go fishing.

Welcome Richard!  Nice to see you here and some action from the far eastern parts of the NW.  I look forward to seeing more reports from you.
