not much to it!
 We were fishing (PB) on Monday out of Brookings Harbor, landed a Starry as by-catch, as we were targeting Ling's.
 It was nice enough of the fish to spit the hook out when he hit the deck,. Wanting to bleed him into the cooler ASAP, I saw these cute little pouty lips all pooched out and gasping for ...water....I thought, well, what a nice 'lil finger hole to lift him with.
 It seems those pouty rubber looking lips are lined with razors!!!
We both bled into the cooler

I'm sorry to laugh, but I feel your pain. It reminds me of the time I proudly lipped a big Choupique (pronounced shoe-pic) I caught with my grandfather. Damn near lost the tip of my thumb.

Huh - never head of that bowfin fish.  I like some of its nicknames, like "mud fish", "swamp bass" or "lawyer".  hahaha....

I heard a story on the radio that its called a "Lawyer fish" because its heart is in its butt. :laughing6:
