Paddle bite

Don't move too quickly when putting your paddle together.  I'm sure the kayaking community has a name for this little chunk taken out of my thumb but I'm calling it a paddle bite for now.  To add insult to injury, I didn't even catch anything that day so all the blood on my kayak was my own.   

Ouch! I do like that term, though. 

You may be the first person to suffer a paddling injury in a Hobie.

Now I know why you choose to peddle.

While sliding the two pieces together, my thumb was in the way.

Hmm didnt know that was possible! I'll have to remember that!
