I was fortunate enough to meet Buzz Ramsey's nephew, Jason Reiser last year on Battle Ground Lake. He picked up a really nice drift boat this summer and invited me to hit the Washougal River yesterday. His boat is so beautifully set up and he has an astonishing array of tackle perfectly organized: six rods, three pairs set up for Bobber & Jig, Pulling Plugs and Corky & Yarn.

We only drifted a couple of miles, putting in around 8 and pulling out by 10:30 or so. As he tried bank fishing I stayed in the boat and cast a Nightmare Jig. After quite a few drifts in the same area I suddenly got a take down only 10-15' from the boat. It put up a great fight and Jason netted it for me. It was a hen about 30" long, and provided about 3 1/2 lbs of filets.

We did the mandatory Glory Shot, showing off the killer jig he'd tied. As I drove back to pick up his truck he filleted it, we split them. I marinated them last night and my daughter cooked them up tonight to share with the grandkids. Great experience!

I learned how to fish for Steelhead listening to Buzz Ramsey and Todd Girtz at a steelhead U seminar.  Hopefully the rain and the Natives will allow me to catch one this year.

Thanks, Dale, last week I finally upgraded my computer & software so I could put together better videos. My new MacBook Retina 15" is awesome & Final Cut Pro X is easy, fast & fun.

Thanks to my 10 year old grandson who complained about it taking forever to render in iMovie. He created the intro & most of the videos on the iHop Channel. Hope to post lots more fishing and HOW videos in the coming months.

Nice fish and great video quality.

Looks like you're about ready to start cranking out some "info-mercials."

Steelhead the sequel. Yesterday got a tagged one with lice. And my first cutthroat since I was a guide in Yellowstone in '63-64.

Looks like you're having a blast.  That fish and your last one look like down river summers as opposed to winters (head size in relation to body and coloration).  What did the eggs look like?

No eggs, we assumed they were summers returning after spawning.

Ron, I'd love to buy you a beer and have you teach me some fish biology. Any place and time you want. We could even do it on the water! My next goal is to drift this river in a kayak.

Give it about a week and a half +- and you should have some nice winter fish to tussle with.  I was curious as I have a SW Washington river that I normally make my first trip (bank fishing) around the 20th of this month.  In general if the Washougal is putting out fresh fish this trib will have them too.  You will love bobber and jig fishing when the fish are in

Oooo take me with you. I love bobber fishing. Plus the Washougal is in Hop and my backyard. :)

Paul, want to try it? Yak, drift boat or banking are all possible. When are you free?
