Title: Anchorage
Post by: Swartz on September 07, 2018, 09:56:10 AM
Well it finally happened. Some new life choices landed the wife and I up in Los Anchorage for the foreseeable next 20 months and I had to leave my beautiful Kenai River behind unless I want to do the drive. Which is real sad since the silvers are popping off right now for their second run and the trout are huge and hungry.

As a newbie, I don't really know what to look forward to except a long drive down to Homer for kings this winter (that will be a first and I'm super excited to try it!). Is there anything closer by that is fun to do before the lakes freeze? I'm also an avid ice shack camper and wouldn't mind some fun locations to drill some holes if there are any out of town where most don't really go.

Thanks in advance,

Lots of small stocked lakes but not too much exciting around town. Launch at the port of Anchorage into Ship creek for kings and coho during the season.

Whittier sucks for fishing.  Seward is the same distance from Anchorage or Soldotna for the most part.

Access to some great trout fishing up north though.  I abuse my vehicles with the miles I put on them every year.....
