Nobaddays:
The General Marine Species daily bag limit is reduced to three fish beginning Sept. 18 to lower the risk of an early season closure. The one-fish sub-bag limit for cabezon and the one-fish sub-bag limit for canary rockfish remain in place, and retention of quillback and yelloweye rockfishes remains prohibited.

while these bag limit reductions can be frustrating, I appreciate ODFW continuing to make keeping bottom fishing open all year a priority. Hitting our rockfish quota(s) and closing bottom fishing towards the end of the year has, in the past, included also closing lingcod, despite plenty of lingcod quota remaining.
as someone that enjoys going after fresh full crab and lingcod each December in lower CoosBay, the actual marine bag limit at that point isn't an issue, rockfish are basically bycatch for me on that outing. On the other hand, a total closure on bottom fishing would be a big issue.
