Went out for the low tides last month. Got some clams, mussels, fish & more. Launched at Sunset Bay.

Cape Arago Lighthouse

Did a little free diving at Cape Arago. There was some tidal surge, it wore me out some.

Tried a new spot for crabbing & got the new McKay traps wet. No luck this time. I'll drop them closer to the launch point next time.

Giant Acorn barnacles (Balanus nubilus) at the bottom of the picture. They aren't very ease to detach from the rocks. I also discovered that this isn't the best time of year to harvest uni. Not much roe in them. I've usually harvested sea urchins in late summer through the fall when they have nice plump roe in them. Next time I'll wait until the kelp is thick and they've fattened up some.

excellent haul.  I seem to get the most crab off the Glass House (and just a bit to the south of there), 55' to 60' of water, big area of sandy bottom in that area.

Wow, what a great harvest! Now that's a hat trick! That's a nice lingcod in there among the other stuff - was that fishing or spearing? Great work. You've always been inspiring and helpful to me and Mrs. Redbeard!
