Title: A new fisherwoman joins the ranks!
Post by: rimfirematt on March 12, 2012, 12:44:35 AM
Well not kayak related but Im a proud dad and Im gonna show it. Took my 4 year old daughter out today and she caught her first ever fish! It was the only one of the day, but the only one needed to spark those fishing genes! She talked about that fish for 2 hours and couldn't wait to show it to mom and then eat it.

Very cute! Back up your files so that picture will last for the wedding rehearsal dinner slide show.

Way to train them young. I'd much rather hear a woman talk about her fish for two hours, than hear her talk about my fishing for 2 hours.

That's adorable! Always nice to see a family that knows how to play together in the winter. She's a cutie, and is lucky to have found so young an activity that she can enjoy with her dad. I'm betting that fish is the first of many caught in your company. Congratulations!

That photo is a wall hanger.

I remember each of my 3 kids 1st fishes clearly.  Wish I'd gotten pictures to go along with all of them.  Thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks for all the nice compliments! Yesterday was the third time I have took her fishing with the goal of her catching a fish. We tried this fall, I forgot some key tackle, like sinkers, so that was a bust. I took her ice fishing about november. It was a real cold day out and our spot required a short hike down a steep hill and deep snow. So she was pretty frosted within 5 minutes of leaving the truck. We didn't fish long that day.

But yesterday was perfect. Nice and sunny out, we were able to drive right where we fished, there was plenty of stuff going on to distract her some when she got bored of staring at the hole. The fish bit the hook within 30 minutes of us being there and that helped immensely. And Then we topped the day off by Butt sledding down the hill that was on the island we were fishing next to.

Way to go getting her started early and getting a nice fish. You have a new built in the family fishin' bud. Cute too. :)

Great job! I love taking my kids fishing. My son is 7 and my daughter 12. I started them about the same age as your little one. I hope it is something we always do together.
