This has been asked before, but the only answer I saw said to put something in the memo field of the check.
My company has a 1:1 match on donations, up to $300 match. But since I'm not writing the check, and chapters don't have their own tax id #, I'm wondering how to get funds directed locally instead of nationally.
Anyone solved a similar problem ?

Go to there face book page, there is a donation link each chapter is said to have its own link. If you wanted to make a cash donation get ahold of the chapter's treasurer and they will give you a receipt.

I would not trust the Facebook page. They have had issues getting events to link back to their web server. Who knows if the mail servers are talking to each other?

As long as the donor is notifying the chapter we can track it right?

The donations go through a corporate system. I don't get to make a donation on my own, then send something in. This is all done through payroll.

They just need to specify the chapter that is receiving it on the check somewhere.

You have to fill out some stuff to get the ball rolling right? Try registering the organization name as "The ____________ Chapter of Heroes On the Water."
If that is on the" Pay to the Order of" line you will be likely to see the funds in the chapter account.

I'll let you know. The system may only allow one org setup per tax id.

I understand. None of the suggestions so far would work, unless the employer has a way for an employee to make a specific Chapter designation.
You may want to ask your employer.
Could someone research this? Donations through the Combined Federal Campaign would have similar issues.
Good question!
