Hit Toliva Shoal this AM targeting Ling but the bite was off...just a couple Rockfish (if the Puget Sound Rockfish stocks are so low, how come I catch the hell out of them?)
I moved over to the shelf off Sunnyside beach to try to salvage the day with some flatfish but realized all I had were Ling-sized grubs...dug through my crate and found a forgotten bag of rubber worms I'd been bass fishing with earlier in the week...what the hell, right?...As soon as my drop-shot rigged worm hit the bottom it was "fish on!"
I must have caught and released 30 flounder in about an hour including the pig pictured...She was heavy with eggs and appeared to be blind in one eye...released them all so they could reproduce.
Not a bad day after all.

The Sound was like glass and I had the shoal to myself...two small boats showed up while I was fishing but all in all it was pretty quiet. I should have fished American Lake as I've been lusting for a Koke-a-saurus like yours!!!

Wow!!  Nice starry-beast there!  Now the the sound is like glass. . . instead of the white water adventure we had out there.  I had some luck going after flounder out at the Nisqually Flats yesterday, always nice to have a consistent species to fall back on and I do love me some flounder fish tacos.

That's a solid stringer there brother!...nice work.

Yup today was nothing like our adventure for sure...add the Sunnyside shelf to your list of flounder hot spots...and bring rubber worms!
